EduLab, Inc. (Minato-ku Tokyo. President and CEO: Junichi Takamura. Hereafter “EduLab Group”) has made an early-stage investment in the Israeli firm SpeakingPal, Ltd. (headquartered in Israel, with Eshed Eyal as CEO, hereinafter referred to as “SpeakingPal”) that has been providing “SPEAKINGPAL”, an English-speaking learning services, and Test preparatory educational materials geared to Pearson’s LCCI JETSET and other major tests like TOEIC®, TOEFL®, IELTS®, etc.

Background of investment

SpeakingPal is a business enterprise in which Edusoft Ltd is a major shareholder. Edusoft is a subsidiary of ETS, the world's largest US assessment organization and an owner of TOEIC® and TOEFL®,. The voice recognition technology supporting its English-speaking lessons utilizes a voice recognition engine created by Stanford Research Institute and fine-tuned within the company. Its level of technical capability is highly recognized. English assessment is expected to advance hereafter in four skills, while SpeakingPal's English speaking contents are securely backed up by its assessment technology, and the investment in the company is foreseen to provide a fast footing in the flow of English-speaking learning contents.

Future development

Thorough the investment, we will leverage our sales network in Asia, promoting sales of SpeakingPal, and advance synergistic efforts with our capacity to develop test materials in the four skills of English assessment and the supply of lesson materials.
